The Lord’s Prayer in our own language

Reading Acts 15

Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad. When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.

Our Prayers

We pray especially today for the 1027 people who came to the UK from Jamaica on this day in 1948, for justice for the way that they have been treated.

Lord in your Mercy

Hear our prayer

We pray for people and situations we are concerned about including

the ongoing unrest after the murder of George Floyd and now other deaths,

the continuing deaths from Covid 19, the government, the lockdown easing in schools,

key workers, PPE, and protection for BME people, people on low or no incomes,

for those with underlying health conditions and those over 60,

for care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression

and ensuring food is reaching the vulnerable.

Ending with…May we not fail them Amen

Closing Responses

This is the day that God has made

We will rejoice and be glad in it

We will not offer to God

Offerings that cost us nothing

We will go in Peace

To love and serve the Lord

Amen
