Walsingham, Norfolk

Walsingham is actually two villages in Norfolk Little and Great Walsingham. In 1061 the lady of the manor a Saxon noblewoman Richeldis de Faverches had a vision of the Virgin Mary and was instructed to build a replica of the House of the Holy Family in Nazareth. Walsingham has been a major pilgrimage site in Nortern Europe eversince. The pictures show the Anglican shrine, where there are also relics. It reminded me of a small Taize in Norfolk.
