Reading Romans 12v19
Dear friends, never avenge yourselves. Leave that to God, for he has said that he will repay those who deserve it. Don’t take the law into your own hands.[a] 20 Instead, feed your enemy if he is hungry. If he is thirsty give him something to drink and you will be “heaping coals of fire on his head.” In other words, he will feel ashamed of himself for what he has done to you. 21 Don’t let evil get the upper hand, but conquer evil by doing good.
Our Prayers
We pray for people and situations that are on our hearts today, including the ongoing lockdown, those with Covid 19, those going to school, the shooting of black people in the US, the chaotic weather, desperate people crossing the sea in dinghies, continuing deaths from Covid 19, Belarus, arrests in Hong Kong and the ongoing wars in Syria and Yemen, Russian democracy, the rise of fascism, the government, the Rohinga Muslims, Muslims being persecuted in China, protection for key workers and adequate PPE, protection for Black and Asian people, for people on low or no incomes, for those with underlying health conditions and those over 60, care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression, protection for asylum seekers and refugees and ensuring that food is reaching the vulnerable…and global warming.
May we not fail you though we face great dangers Give us your peace, your wisdom and your strength. Amen
