We pray
to the God of gravity
Drawn to the world
In gravity bound love
Song “Love came down at Christmas”
Prayer for Gods help
Forgive me
When I choose the wrong way
Restore me
Help me to have compassion for myself and others
To create a world that is good and just
And to carry your dream within me
The Lord’s Prayer in our own language
Reading Psalm 68
Sing to God, sing praises to his name;
lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds—
his name is the Lord—
be exultant before him.
5 Father of orphans and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
6 God gives the desolate a home to live in;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious live in a parched land.
Our Prayers
We pray for people and situations that are on our hearts today ...
And for people stranded in the UK, Brexit, lockdown, schools and hospitals, the rolling out of a vaccine, Hong Kong, Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia, Thailand, Nigeria, Palestine, our governments, the Rohinga Muslims, Muslims being persecuted in China, people fighting corruption, protection for key workers, protection for Black and Asian people, for people on low or no incomes, for those with underlying health conditions and those over 60, care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression, protection for asylum seekers and refugees and ensuring that food is reaching the vulnerable…and global warming.
May we not fail you though we face great dangers.
Give us your peace, your wisdom and your strength. Amen
Closing Responses
Take us to Bethlehem
House of bread
Where the hungry are filled
The poor find riches
And the rich recognise their poverty
Where all kneel, worship
And are fed.
Amen
