Reflection on Mark 13v1-8
Jesus leaves the temple and goes to the Mount of Olives where he answers the disciples' question concerning the end times. He does so against a backdrop of the looming conflict between the Jews and the Romans which will end with the destruction of the temple in AD 70. Should the disciples take up arms to fight the Romans? Sometimes it’s important to hear predictions. 1.5 degrees!
The days before the end requires us to be strong.
Jesus has predicted that the temple will be destroyed. He is no supporter of the temple cult and its power. The disciples want to know how they will recognize these end times. Jesus gives details of preliminary events, "the birth-pangs".
Forget the magnificence of the temple, its days are numbered. There will be false messiahs, false prophets confusing Christians. There will be wars, and rumours of wars, and persecution, before the end.
He is speaking to his generation. Prophets direct their words to an immediate situation. The temple was built of enormous stones (Josephus). The temple stands condemned as a stumbling block (maybe like church buildings?). Jesus is accused of trying to destroy the temple at his trial.
No stone will be left which came true. God will abandon the temple.
Dan.12:6,7. is in the background of the passage.
There will be famines and natural calamities. But don’t jump to hasty conclusions.
Watch out, be on guard. Be discerning and alert. There will be deceivers.(Josephus indicates that there were many self-proclaimed prophets up to the rebellion in 66AD).
But don’t be troubled. These things must happen.
Nations will rise up against nations. There will be earthquakes.
It reads like a warning for today! So we must be careful, be watchful. Wars cause destruction. Be wise. Don’t be deceived by false leaders, especially political and religious! Amen

Refleksi pada Markus 13v1-8
Yesus meninggalkan bait suci dan pergi ke Bukit Zaitun di mana dia menjawab pertanyaan para murid tentang akhir zaman. Dia melakukannya dengan latar belakang konflik yang menjulang antara orang Yahudi dan orang Romawi yang akan berakhir dengan penghancuran bait suci pada tahun 70 M. Dia berbicara kepada generasinya. Para nabi mengarahkan kata-kata mereka ke situasi yang mendesak. Kuil itu dibangun dari batu-batu besar (Josephus). Kuil berdiri dikutuk sebagai batu sandungan (mungkin seperti bangunan gereja?). Yesus dituduh mencoba menghancurkan bait suci di pengadilannya.
Tidak ada batu yang tersisa yang menjadi kenyataan. Tuhan akan meninggalkan kuil.
Dan.12:6,7. berada di latar belakang bagian tersebut.
Akan ada kelaparan dan bencana alam. Tapi jangan terburu-buru mengambil kesimpulan.
Awas, waspada. Jadilah cerdas dan waspada. Akan ada penipu. (Josephus menunjukkan bahwa ada banyak nabi yang memproklamirkan diri sampai pemberontakan pada tahun 66 M).
Tapi jangan terganggu. Hal-hal ini harus terjadi.
Bangsa-bangsa akan bangkit melawan bangsa-bangsa. Akan ada gempa bumi.
Bunyinya seperti peringatan untuk hari ini! Jadi kita harus hati-hati, waspada. Perang menyebabkan kehancuran. Bijaklah. Jangan tertipu oleh pemimpin palsu, terutama politik dan agama! Amin

Réflexion sur Marc 13v1-8
Jésus quitte le temple et se rend au Mont des Oliviers où il répond à la question des disciples concernant la fin des temps. Il le fait dans le contexte du conflit imminent entre les Juifs et les Romains qui se terminera par la destruction du temple en 70 après JC. Les disciples doivent-ils prendre les armes pour combattre les Romains ? Parfois, il est important d'entendre les prédictions. 1,5 degrés !
Les jours avant la fin nous obligent à être forts.
Jésus a prédit que le temple serait détruit. Il n'est pas partisan du culte du temple et de son pouvoir. Les disciples veulent savoir comment ils reconnaîtront cette fin des temps. Jésus donne des détails sur les événements préliminaires, "les douleurs de l'enfantement".
Oubliez la magnificence du temple, ses jours sont comptés. Il y aura de faux messies, de faux prophètes qui confondront les chrétiens. Il y aura des guerres et des rumeurs de guerres et de persécutions avant la fin.
Il parle à sa génération. Les prophètes dirigent leurs paroles vers une situation immédiate. Le temple était construit de pierres énormes (Josephus). Le temple est condamné comme une pierre d'achoppement (peut-être comme des bâtiments d'église ?). Jésus est accusé d'avoir tenté de détruire le temple lors de son procès.
Il ne restera aucune pierre qui s'est réalisée. Dieu abandonnera le temple.

Il y aura des famines et des calamités naturelles. Mais ne sautez pas aux conclusions hâtives.
Attention, soyez sur vos gardes. Soyez perspicace et alerte. Il y aura des trompeurs. (Josephus indique qu'il y avait beaucoup de prophètes autoproclamés jusqu'à la rébellion en 66 après JC).
Mais ne vous inquiétez pas. Ces choses doivent arriver.
Les nations se soulèveront contre les nations. Il y aura des tremblements de terre.
Cela se lit comme un avertissement pour aujourd'hui ! Il faut donc être prudent, être vigilant. Les guerres causent la destruction. Sois sage. Ne vous laissez pas tromper par les faux dirigeants, notamment politiques et religieux ! Amen
