Prayers 24th July 2023,

Spirit of God

You are the breath of creation

The wind of change

Speak through my heart, my mind, my actions

Song “Never Once”

Forgive me my closed mind

And break down the barricades of my heart

So I can embrace new ways of being

We say the Lord’s Prayer in our own language

Reading Psalm 39

I said, “I will keep watch over my ways
So that I do not sin with my tongue;
I will keep watch over my mouth as with a muzzle
While the wicked are in my presence.”
I was mute and silent,
I refused to say even something good,
And my pain was stirred up.
My heart was hot within me,
While I was musing the fire burned;
Then I spoke with my tongue:
Lord, let me know my end,
And what is the extent of my days;
Let me know how transient I am.
Behold, You have made my days like hand widths,
And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight;
Certainly all humankind standing is a mere breath.
Certainly every person walks around as a fleeting shadow;
They certainly make an uproar for nothing;
He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.

We pray for all those we know who need our help and prayers who we carry in our hearts today.

For the families of refugees drowned in the Mediterranean, for Ukraine and Russia, for Israel and Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Hong Kong, China, Syria, Thailand, our own country, for those confronting injustice, and pressing issues of climate change, for those who are hungry, homeless, distraught, for the many refugees throughout the world, for those on strike, for the homeless, our families and friends and ourselves…Spirit of the Living God present with us now enter our bodies, minds and spirits and heal us of all that harms us. Let your angels be beside us at this time. In Jesus Name we pray.

Song “Oh the deep deep love”

This is the day that God has made

We will rejoice and be glad in it

We will not offer to God

Offerings that cost us nothing

We will go in Peace

To love and serve the Lord

Amen
