Reading Psalm 35
Oh God, how long will You look on?
Rescue my soul from their ravages,
My only life from the lions.
18 I will give You thanks in the great congregation;
I will praise You among a mighty people.
19 Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me;
Nor let those who hate me for no reason wink maliciously.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
21 They opened their mouth wide against me;
They said, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it!”
We pray for all those we know who need our help and prayers who we carry in our hearts today.
For the family of the man shot dead in Paris, the rioters and the French government, the families of refugees killed in Greece, for Ukraine and Russia, for Israel and Palestine, Yemen, Myanmar, the Rohingyas, the Uyghurs, Hong Kong, Belarus, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Syria, Iran, the US, our own country, for doctors and nurses, carers, teachers, those confronting injustice, and pressing issues of climate change, for those who are distraught, for the many refugees, for those on strike, for the homeless, our families and friends and ourselves…Spirit of the Living God present with us now enter our bodies, minds and spirits and heal us of all that harms us. Let your angels be beside us at this time. In Jesus Name we pray.
