Morning prayers 5th June 2020

We thank you for morning Light
And offer our praises to you
Open our hearts and our minds
To your Spirit
And give us your presence
In our life today

Song “It is well with my soul”

Prayer for Gods help

Loving God
Come into our confused and troubled lives
Send your Spirit
To work in us
Realign us
So that we may know
Your Spirit in our lives
Your joy, your peace, your Shalom

The Lord’s Prayer in our own language

Reading Acts 12v1-4
It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews,he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.

Our Prayers
We pray for people and situations we are concerned about including the murder of George Floyd, high deaths from Covid 19, the government, the lockdown easing in schools, key workers, PPE, and protection for BME people, care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression and ensuring food is reaching the vulnerable.

Ending with…May we not fail them Amen

Song “Forgiven”

Closing Responses

This is the day that God has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it
We will not offer to God
Offerings that cost us nothing
Go in Peace
To love and serve the Lord
Amen
