Prayers 28/29th December 2020,

Come Holy God

Give me your peace

Send your Spirit

To heal and help me

So I can build a world

Of love and justice

And care for your earth. Amen

Prayer for Gods help

A candle is lit.

We light a candle for light, sending

prayers high into the inky heavens and

dreams deep into our human soul.

We light a candle for light. May it light our way.

Forgive me

When I choose the wrong way

Restore me

Help me to have compassion for myself and others

To create a world that is good and just

And to carry your dream within me

The Lord’s Prayer in our own language

Reading Psalm 68

When you, God, went out before your people,
when you marched through the wilderness,
the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain,
before God, the One of Sinai,
before God, the God of Israel.
You gave abundant showers, O God;
    you refreshed your weary inheritance.
10 Your people settled in it,
and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor.

Our Prayers

We pray for people and situations that are on our hearts today ...

For lorry drivers stuck in Kent without Christmas with their families, for people who are lonely, for staff in hospitals and care homes, for people suffering from war where their children cant sleep because of bombs falling, for people imprisoned for protesting about the abuse of human rights, for people suffering because of floods or temperatures soaring because of climate change and forests burning, for the vulnerable in this Covid time and those sick and dying, for the homeless in their own country and those far from home, for asylum seekers and refugees the world over, and finally for our children and grandchildren who we must give a better future. In Jesus name we pray,

May we not fail you though we face great dangers.

Give us your peace, your wisdom and your strength. Amen

Closing Responses

Take us to Bethlehem

House of bread

Where the empty are filled

The poor find riches

And the rich recognise their poverty

Where all kneel, worship

And are fed.

Amen
