Morning prayers 8th May 2020

If the Lords disciples keep silent
These very stones would shout aloud
God open our lips
And our mouths shall show forth your praise

Song “Inspired by love and anger”

Prayer for Gods help

Make me a clean heart
And renew a right Spirit within me
Give us again our joy

The Lord’s Prayer in your own language

Reading Acts 5v8-11
Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?”
“Yes,” she said, “that is the price.”
Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.”
10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.”

Intercessions

We pray for people and situations we are concerned about including the lockdown easing, key workers, the ongoing lack of PPE in hospitals and care homes and everywhere, and protection for BME people, care for those who are alone and those suffering with depression and ensuring food is reaching the vulnerable.

Ending with…May they not fail you, nor we fail them Amen

Song “Do not be afraid”

Closing Responses

When we are despairing and see no way ahead
Roll back the stone!
When we are frightened and fear for our life
Roll back the stone!
When we are hungry, thirsty and need shelter
Roll back the stone!
When we need a miracle to change our lives
Roll back the stone!
